PRE-SCHOOL EDUCATION

Since the school year 1993/94 the School for Elementary and Secondary Education „Milan Petrovic“ in Novi Sad included in it's program pre-school treatment for children with:

• light mental retardation

• moderate mental retardation

• damaged eyesight

• physical disability

• autism

• multiple forms of disability

Depending on the type of handicap, different profiles of special teachers and experts are included in the treatment program such as: oligophrenologists, typhlologists, hearing therapists, speech therapists and special pedagogues

We are taking care of:

• diagnostics and treatment of children of pre-school age,

• personal development stimulation,

• educational program realization,

• preparation for enrolling to 1 st grade of regular or special school,

• service for children and parents

Educational program includes:

• sensitiveness, psychological and physical,

• speech and language development,

• basics in mathematics and logic,

• introducing environment and social surrounding,

• self service and self care,

• health education,

• working habits,

• fine arts education,

• music,

• body exercises.

Correction services department supports and stimulates:

• senses development,

• physical and body development,

• speech development

Professional services unit

• Psychologist valuates the level of children's performing abilities.

• Pedagogue cooperates on educational program for children of pre-school age.

• Librarian in media library provides necessary equipment and tools in educational process.

• Librarian helps providing picture-books and books needed for this age

• Social worker collaborates with family and solves social problems

Health care service.

• Pediatrician takes care about health prevention and health treatments of acute or chronic diseases by children.

• Dentist works on prevention and treatment of teeth and mouth diseases.

• Physiotherapist conducts diagnostics and determines the treatment for existing body abnormalities.

• Psychiatrist conducts diagnostics and treats behavior disturbances with an aim to improve children's performing abilities

• Nurse gives necessary support and cares for children of pre-school age.

• As a associate and oculist treats visibility problems by children.

We are socializing and train:

• at the local sports centre pool (program of exercises for children of pre-school age).

• in the school and trough the outdoor activities we practice the program for recreation,

• trough the music therapy

• within the flower lovers workshop

We gain experience trough:

• walks, trips and excursions

• visits to prominent institutions in our city,

• participation at important children's manifestations.

Counseling:

• direct information exchange with parents at daily basis,

• direct and indirect parents involvement in educational system.
